The Swisstrax product FAQ’s specifically refer to the Ribtrax® Pro tile and do not apply to the Ecotile standard PVC product range.
FAQs
How is Swisstrax made?
Ribtrax® Pro are made from Polypropolene, so they’re manufactured to withstand a considerable amount of weight. Depending on the weight of the vehicle and the surface area points of the jack, we would suggest using a piece of rigid material placed between the tile and jack stand. This will help to distribute the weight / load to eliminate any potential damage occuring to the tile.
Can Ribtrax® Pro be used outside?
Yes they can. All our Ribtrax® Pro tiles are created with a UV stabiliser mixed in to the material, along with colour pigments. This means they’re better suited to be used outside with high fade resistance. With almost every material, extended exposure to direct sunlight will start to cause some fade and discolouration over time. This is more likely in bright colours such as red, blue and green, so we would advise to consider our Pearl Silver and Slate Grey in such applications.
Can I install Ribtrax® Pro myself?
Yes, you certainly can. Ribtrax® Pro tiles are designed for easy installation in home garages and workshops. Effectively, they simply click together without the need of any tools. You’ll need to make some cuts to ensure a neat finish to your flooring.
Does Swisstrax withstand vehicle use?
They’re often used by commercial garages and car detailers on a daily basis, so they’re well suited to withstanding regular vehicles traffic. Ribtrax® Pro modular floor tiles are 19mm thick, and made from super strong materials to enable them to be driven on by cars.
Are Ribtrax® Pro tiles resistant to chemicals?
Yes, Swisstrax Ribtrax® Pro are resistant to most chemicals and oils, with the exception of battery acid. Make sure to keep the tiles well away from direct heat sources such as a butane torch for example. If you did manage to damage a tool, being a modular floor system, you can just pop out the damaged tile and replace with a new one.
What is the operating temperature of Swisstrax?
All Ribtrax® Pro tiles are manufactured to operate from -30°C to 120°C environments.
How do I remove a single Swisstrax tile?
Its pretty straight forward. Simply use a flat-edged screwdriver, putty knife or paint tin opener. They make it easy to pop out a single Ribtrax® Pro tile without affecting the rest of the floor.
How do Swisstrax tiles fit together?
Each Swisstrax tile has a series of loops and pegs, which are used to connect the tiles to each other. These joints create a super strong connection, whilst allowing them to be disconnected and moved should they need to be.
How thick is the Ribtrax® Pro tile?
All our Ribtrax® Pro floor tiles are 19mm thick, providing superior strength to enable vehicle traffic to be driven on them. Each tile is 400mm x 400mm x 19mm, and is made from Polypropylene.
How do Swisstrax tiles perform in wet areas?
The Ribtrax® Pro tiles are perfect for wet environments. they’re designed with perforations throughout the tiles surface, which allows water to quickly flow through and on to the subfloor. This leaves a clean, dary and safe surface area. This also makes them the perfect tile for cleaning with a jet washer. Simply start at the back of your garage and clean towards the open door and onwards to your nearest drain.
