The Academy of Woodlands in Gillingham, Kent includes a primary school. nursery, arts centre, sports facility and an after school club. The sports centre, where they use Ecotile, opened its doors in 2008 after a major redevelopment programme and has been going strong ever since.
The sports centre is comprised of a sports hall, 3G football pitch and a community gym which is where they needed a new floor and chose Ecotile to solve their flooring problems. The existing floor was carpet and had become very tired and worn. The Academy of Woodlands was looking for a modern, smart floor covering that would withstand the stresses of a gym environment whilst being easy to clean and maintain.
A local contractor was engaged to lay the floor and he completed the 200m2 project in 2 days which is pretty good for someone who had no experience of the tiles and proves how easy they are to install! The Academy made the most of the different colours available using dark grey in the cardio area, blue where the strength machines sit and red in the free weights area.
