How LCH Productions made a smart choice for their leased warehouse floor upgrade

March 4, 2025 - 4 minutes read

The back story

After a busy Summer of music festivals and events, Luke Harnett was ready to move his Audio-Visual equipment hire business into a new, larger facility. Having secured a new rental building a few miles from his current base in Bedfordshire, he set about preparing it for his growing business.

With just two weeks to get the new premises ready, he needed a quick and effective solution to protect the existing warehouse subfloor.

Thinking ahead before committing to spend

With one eye firmly on value for money, Luke needed to choose a warehouse floor covering to protect the subfloor. As well as creating a professional looking and comfortable environment for their daily operations, the floor needed to provide value for money for him and his business.

Having considered resin, this was quickly rejected due to the time it would take to be ready. Floor paint seemed the least expensive, but would quickly wear and need to be reapplied.

Our industrial floor tiles eliminated these concerns, especially as there’s no drying or curing time.

Luke’s key considerations for choosing Ecotile:

  • Can be installed quickly to allow stock to be moved in straight away
  • Improves comfort underfoot
  • Reduces coldness of the concrete subfloor
  • Protects rental flooring from damage and ensures no repair expenses when leaving premises
  • Helps protect any accidentally dropped equipment
  • If expanding into a bigger premises, can easily lift tiles and use in a new location
  • Offers better long-term value for money over paint and resin

How we helped (Luke did most of the work!)

We provided invaluable advice to Luke, helping him select the most suitable tiles for his needs. After a series of conversations, we supplied his selected 7mm Ecotile from stock, so they were available on-time to meet his deadline.

Our sales admin support team arranged for Luke to collect his floor tiles himself from our Bedfordshire warehouse. And we arranged the hire of one of our power shear guillotines. And to be honest, Luke and his team did the rest.

Ecotile is designed to be easy to install, with no prior experience needed in many applications. And his empty warehouse prior to moving his equipment in was the perfect blank canvas to self-install our interlocking floor tiles.

Installed without issue in less than a day, LCH Productions new premises were instantly ready to welcome their large amount of lighting, rigging, AV, staging and sound equipment safely into stock.

Fit for purpose and ready for the future

Installing modular floor tiles has future-proofed any further moves for Luke and his business. But for now, he’s achieved a hard-wearing fit for purpose floor. Trollies and wheeled equipment can be pushed around the warehouse smoothly over the floor covering. Vehicles are able to drive into the warehouse to load and unload without damaging the landlord’s subfloor. And during the colder months, they’ve created a barrier against the cold concrete, improving comfort across the site.

How we brought the vision to life

LCH productions needed a solution for today and the future. With Ecotile modular flooring they found both. Self-installing the tiles saved valuable budget, as did collecting the tiles themselves, making the lifetime value even more favourable against regularly repainting the subfloor.

Tiles install much easier than painting the whole floor would have done over such a large area. Add in the fact that they can take them with them if they continue to expand and need to move to even larger premises in the future is a real bonus. To be able to add to them, reuse them and recycle them essentially is a huge benefit to Luke and the business.
