The Challenge

The team at Sprite & Midget Restorations are very passionate about MG’s and classic cars. They stock a huge range of quality classic MG vehicles that have been restored to their former glory.
Some of the vehicles kept are very old so you can imagine the hard work and time required to bring them back to fully restored examples.
Barry owns a large property with a fairly large workshop and storage area. The workshop doubles up as a showroom and is home to some of the rarest MG restorations. It’s not very flattering presenting 15 beautiful classic cars on a worn out and cracked concrete floor so Sprite & Midget restorations set out to find a replacement floor that would really compliment their collection of vehicles.

1. The existing floor was pretty worn down concrete. It was slightly uneven so replacing the floor with epoxy would have required a lot of preparation work.
2. Barry wanted a floor that performed well in a workshop environment but that also looked smart and professional to help them sell vehicles

The Solution

The E500/7 tile is perfect for garages and workshops as it copes easily with vehicles moving around whilst providing a warm and comfortable surface to work on. Sprite & Midget often move vehicles in and out of the building so they needed a durable floor but most of all they needed a floor that looked smart and presentable.

Our installation team was able to fit the 165 metre area in just one day and before sunset Barry was able to move all of his vehicles back into the workshop.

“Our floor had 30 years of paint on it and the oil from the cars made it difficult to get anything to stick. We were looking at epoxy but it wasn’t much cheaper than Ecotile when you include preparation and installation and the floor was a bit uneven so we couldn’t use ceramic tiles. James came down and was very honest about things we needed to look out for like staining from the tyres and we’re really happy with it, it’s easy to clean and much better than a painted floor. Oil can be wiped straight off and we had one tile that was damaged by a petrol leak but we just lifted and replaced it – job done!”
